The Transformation Art Competition

Prepare to be intrigued, astounded and transformed as Reinhausen SA under the flagship “The power behind power ™” bring you the Transformation Art Competition, alongside the visionary art group Mashumi Art Projects.

Two institutions that were earmarked as beneficiaries for the art competition namely The Market Photo Workshop, located at the Bus Factory in Newtown, and also the Funda Community College’s Fine Art department in Diepkloof, Soweto.

“Business and art, in our opinion two spheres that can form a great symbiosis. MR is the global market leader in power transformer regulation, thereby helping to ensure a reliable power supply around the world. The theme of “Transformation” promised to be stimulating and challenging for artists, especially because of the necessary engagement with the mere unknown field of electricity. Artwork from local uprising young artists was the way to go in order to create a corporate though characteristic atmosphere in our new breathtaking office building.” (Kobus de Villiers, Managing Director) 10 participants will be taking part in this competition.

The competition will result in a variety of entries from paintings, sculptures, drawings and photography which will be staged for permanent display at the newly built headquarters of Reinhausen SA located at the Booysens Reserve in Johannesburg. The winners of the Transformation Art Competition will be presented in accordance with the launch of Reinhausen SA’s office space celebrating the latest architectural addition to the Booysens Reserve industrial landscape.

“We strive to support young dynamic performers and want to provide the opportunity to showcase their talent. The grand opening event of our new office space in October 2014 will ideally suit the award purpose, offering an audience of customers, suppliers, government officials and German management in a corporate environment.” (Carolin Brunnbauer, Project Manager)

Categories: Painting, Sculpture and Photography.

Every participant will receive a cash price, 1st and 2nd place winners will receive a significantly higher award. Beside monetary motivation, all artists gained professional experience in doing commission work, characterized by an unknown theme, weekly critical sessions moderated by MAP and representatives of RZA and a tough submission deadline.

The winners will be announced on the launch night of the MR office space in Booysens Reserve on 14th March 2014.

“Funda Community College students’ participation in the Reinhausen South Africa (PTY) Ltd project has anchored a strong conceptual base on the visual actualisation of the targeted body of works for the project that effectively translated the virtual reality of Reinhausen company façade and operations. This project coordinated by Mashumi Art Project (MAP) bridges young artists into the visible developmental curve of practitioner ship.

The project adds value and exposure to young artists whilst acknowledging the role Funda Community College has played in visual arts education within thirty years of its existence (1984 to date). It is a project that has built much-needed intervention within the business sector.

Funda highly acknowledges the gravity and success of the project through professional handling of the entire project path and befitting ideal site for project base operations. The institution is looking forward to further project base working relations of this nature with Reinhausen and MAP as this will contribute to the enhancement of visual arts delivery” says Charles Nkosi, HOD at Funda Community College.
