Artist Statement
Jewellery is often made to have a focal point and most often than not, the focal point is a gemstone of sorts which will draw your eye in. My work centers around the weaving technique and I explore this in various ways to make it a focal point in my work. Weaving is a technique that originates in Africa in the form of baskets, headwear and decorative ornaments. I have taken the techniques and interpreted it contemporary jewellery in a modern manner.
